Capt. Laura Cox
Captain Laura Cox (Ret.) brings more than four decades of professional aviation experience to Walker Aero Solutions, with a background spanning airline operations, flight instruction, labor relations, governmental affairs, legislative advocacy, and media communications.
Laura earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation from Louisiana Tech University, where she also served as an advanced flight instructor. She went on to a long career in FAR Part 121 airline operations, flying for Britt Airlines, People Express Airlines, Continental Airlines, and United Airlines. Her qualifications include multiple Boeing type ratings and flight engineer experience aboard large transport-category aircraft.
Throughout her airline career, Laura developed extensive experience in organized labor and pilot representation. She served on multiple Air Line Pilots Association committees, including as a Family Awareness Coordinator, where she helped pilots and their families understand contractual obligations and benefits available under collective bargaining agreements. Her work on a local Legislative Affairs Committee also provided direct experience communicating with state and federal officials and advancing aviation-related legislative priorities.
Laura later co-founded Airline Employees 4 Health Freedom (AE4HF), where her work expanded into employee civil rights, Title VII and ADA accommodation issues, governmental affairs, legislative outreach, public advocacy, and media communications. AE4HF’s documented activities included engagement with members of Congress and other government officials, as well as public education and media outreach.
Her combination of airline operational experience, labor knowledge, governmental affairs work, and advocacy gives Laura a distinctive perspective on matters affecting aviation professionals. At Walker Aero Solutions, she brings that experience to engagements requiring careful analysis of the relationship among airline operations, employment matters, regulatory requirements, professional standards, and the practical realities facing pilots.
